a few more thyroid facts

In case you haven’t worked it out by now, I have a keen interest in all things hormonal.

Recently, there was another Thyroid Summit hosted by Suzy Cohen and  Dr David Brownstein. More valuable information for those of us who are looking for ways to heal our thyroid rather than pop another Thyroxine!

Here are a few of the highlights:

Pills spelling the word help over white background“Your thyroid gland is a sponge for iodine. It produces thyroid hormone. When you take in fluoride, the fluoride displaces the iodine in your gland. And it reduces your ability to produce thyroxin. Fluoride is in about 100 popular drugs!” ~Suzy Cohen, RPh

This is why it’s really important to invest in a filter for your water

“I really believe (toxins) are one of the most significant reasons why there is an epidemic of hypothyroidism … accumulates in your pineal gland, which is … the primary source of melatonin, which you need to not only help you sleep and regulate your biological rhythm, but also to help protect against cancer.” ~Dr. Mercola

Sleep is SO important! I’m very aware of anything that disrupts melatonin production!

“For example, bisphenol A’s (BPA) structure is almost similar or identical to thyroid hormone. So BPA (found in plastic) binds to our tissue but because of similarity between bisphenol A with thyroid tissue, now our immune cells are going to attack the thyroid tissue. That’s exactly the reason behind why we have so many people with autoimmune diseases.” ~Dr. Vojdani

Go plastic-free and avoid BPA!

“One of my pet peeves is when people try to make folate the same as folic acid. Folic acid is a man-made synthetic form of folate!”~Dr. Lynch

Be careful of synthetic vitamins and minerals. Let the main source come from food rather than laboratories!

“Low thyroid hormone … it’s connected to miscarriage and stillbirth, infertility, maternal anemia, preeclampsia, placental abruption, postpartum hemorrhage, premature delivery and deficits in intellectual development in infants. The fact that it’s NOT part of routine testing in pregnancy, to me, is shameful.” ~Dana Trentini

Coincidence that I’m struggling with thyroid issues AND fertility issues??
